Private Pilot Course

The PRIVATE PILOT LICENSE issued by the FAA is good for the lifetime of the pilot unless revoked, and is recognized throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and most countries in the free world. It is acquired through a course of study including ground school instruction in Aerodynamics, Navigation, Aircraft Systems, Weather, and Federal Regulations, along with flight instruction in various maneuvers and pilot operations required by regulation. This course will result in at least 40 hours of flight time that includes at least 20 hours of flight training from an authorized instructor and 10 hours of solo flight training. Additional flight hours may be required for the applicant to reach the level of competency necessary to pass the FAA Flight Test for the license.

There is no minimum age for taking lessons, but you must pass an FAA physical and be at least 16 years of age to solo an airplane, and you must be 17 years of age to get a Private License.

For most individuals, the cost of a Private License will run between $5,500.00 and $6,000.00 depending on the length of time you take to receive the training (the more frequent the lessons, the less time it usually takes to be ready for the flight test). Most individuals training will spend around 50-52 hours of total flight time and 30 hours of instruction time. Most customers approach their training on a pay as you fly approach in a manner that works best with their own time schedules.  This can be flying multiple times a week or once every other week, whatever will work best for your own needs and schedule availability.
