Aircraft and Instruction Rates Increase

Over the past few years, Dodgen Aircraft has done everything possible to avoid raising our rental and instruction rates. However, the last time we configured our aircraft rental rates, fuel was at $3.18 per gallon. Today fuel is over $4.25 per gallon and it doesn’t appear to be decreasing anytime soon. In addition to this, our insurance rates to insure our airplane fleet for rental and instruction have skyrocketed. These two increased costs unfortunately force us to raise the rental rates on the aircraft at Dodgen Aircraft. Rates will be raised on each aircraft at varying rates based on the differing fuel burns and insurance rates to which we are subject.

Beginning Monday November 12, 2007, these new rental rates will take effect. Both wet and dry rental rates have been updated in relation to our increased costs. Please check our website to view the new dry rental rates. Below is list of the new wet rental rates for each aircraft:

Cessna 152’s
Regular Rate: $73.00 per hour
Club Rate: $52.00 per hour

Cessna 172’s
Regular Rate: $97.00 per hour
Club Rate: $70.00 per hour

Piper Warrior’s
Regular Rate: $97.00 per hour
Club Rate: $70.00 per hour

Piper Arrow
Regular Rate: $129.00 per hour
Club Rate: $93.00 per hour

In addition, we must raise our instruction rates to adjust for the changing insurance costs for providing instruction.  The following rates will also take effect on November 12, 2007:

Primary, Instrument, and Complex Instruction, and Rental Checkouts: $36.00 per hour
Multi-Engine instruction: $50.00 per hour

This represents a change in our instruction price structure. We are now offering a uniform rate for all single engine instruction.

We are not going to change the rates on our initial club entrance purchases or the monthly dues that are charged.  The price changes have been included in the hourly rate for the club pricing.

In light of this price increase, we will offer a limited opportunity for anyone who would like to purchase a block of time at the current prices in blocks of 10 hours or more on an aircraft.  To take advantage of this opportunity, the purchase of the block time must be made prior to close of business on Monday, November 12th, the date of the increase in pricing.  For more information or to take advantage of this offering please call Jason or Scott during normal business hours.

A rate increase is something we have been avoiding for a long time. We have analyzed the rates of flight schools in West Michigan and this rate increase keeps us at or below our competitors’ rates. We understand that these increases will be noticeable, but we are hopeful that you as our customers will understand our position as well as our desire to keep providing the services you use and have come to know at Dodgen Aircraft. Please be assured that we will do everything we can to continue providing these services at a reasonable rate.

Please feel free to contact me with questions regarding this change, but unfortunately it is a necessary adjustment to our pricing policy to make up for changing demands on our costs of operation.  Please know that I have put much thought into this decision and wish that it wasn’t necessary.  I truly appreciate all of our customers’ patronage and look forward to your continued utilization of our services.  As always, everyone at Dodgen Aircraft appreciates those of you who continue to use our services and we hope you will continue to use Dodgen Aircraft for all of your General Aviation needs.

Sincerely,

Jason E. Blair
